Stamp Duty Land Tax is a government tax on property purchases in England and Northern Ireland. Buy-to-let investors pay an additional 3% surcharge on top of standard rates. Current rates for additional properties: 3% up to £250,000, 8% from £250,001-£925,000, 13% from £925,001-£1.5m, 15% above £1.5m. First-time buyers have separate relief thresholds.
