MEES (Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards)
Minimum EPC rating required to legally rent property
Full Definition
MEES regulations set the minimum EPC rating for rental properties in England and Wales. Currently, properties must achieve at least an E rating to be legally let. The government has proposed increasing this to C by 2025 for new tenancies and 2028 for existing tenancies, though implementation dates may change.
